The Rwanda Premier League has signed a new title sponsorship agreement with Bank of Kigali, marking one of the most significant commercial partnerships in the league's history.

Under the deal, Bank of Kigali will invest 3.25 billion Rwandan francs (approximately $2.2 million) over five years, with the competition rebranded as the BK Pro League through the 2030/2031 season.

The partnership pushes the league towards financial stability and structural development within Rwanda's top-tier football ecosystem, as league stakeholders look to strengthen club operations and accelerate professionalisation.

Bank of Kigali Chief Executive Officer Diane Karusisi positioned the agreement as a long-term investment in the broader football landscape.

"We are not just putting our name on a league. We are investing in the future of Rwandan football," she said.

League leadership framed the deal as a catalyst for competitive growth. Rwanda Premier League Chairman Yussufu Mudaheranwa noted that the partnership provides additional resources to support clubs and improve league-wide standards.

From a governance perspective, Fabrice Shema Ngoga, President of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), highlighted the role of private-sector capital in expanding football development across the country.

The Rwanda Premier League, which features 18 clubs including record champions APR FC, has been working to enhance its commercial profile and competitive structure. The Bank of Kigali agreement provides multi-year revenue visibility, a critical factor for leagues across the continent seeking to transition toward more sustainable operating models.
