A key figure behind the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 NBA title, has joined the ownership group of the Toronto Tempo, Canada’s first Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) franchise, as a Principal Owner.

This marks a leadership transition at the Cairo-based governing body and elevating one of its most senior tournament operators into a top administrative role.

The Supervisory Board has agreed to propose Sawiris for re-election to the board for an additional three-year term. If approved by shareholders at the meeting, the board intends to elect him as chairman immediately afterward.
