BAL Teams Up With Qatar Foundation in Landmark Social Impact Deal
Qatar Foundation, the Doha-based non-profit focused on education, research, and community development, has entered into a multiyear collaboration with the BAL to drive social impact programming across the continent. The partnership is being facilitated by Qatar Sports Investments.
At the heart of the deal is a shared commitment to expanding access to basketball across Africa. Qatar Foundation will support court renovations as part of NBA Africa's wider push to build 1,000 courts across the continent, and will back BAL4HER — the league's gender equality platform - with dedicated Power Hours in each BAL host city. The sessions connect young women pursuing careers in the sports industry with leading executives through networking, structured conversations, and immersive programming.
Qatar Foundation will also serve as Presenting Partner of the BAL's Ubuntu Trophy, awarded each season to a player who has made a meaningful impact on the local community. The foundation's logo will appear on the back of all BAL game uniforms.
"Qatar Foundation shares our commitment to giving back to the youth, fans and communities that support the BAL year round," said BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall.
The collaboration builds on Qatar Foundation's broader sport-for-development work — particularly around enabling sporting participation among women and girls - and extends a relationship it already holds with Qatar Sports Investments across sports, culture, and entertainment.
