Standard Bank, Africa’s largest bank by assets, has announced a landmark sponsorship agreement with the South African Football Association (SAFA), becoming an official partner of the country’s national football teams.

The partnership will support Bafana Bafana, Banyana Banyana, and South Africa’s grassroots national team structures beginning in 2026, marking one of the most significant commercial investments in South African football in recent years.

The agreement reinforces the growing role of corporate sponsorship in strengthening national team programs and football development ecosystems across Africa.

The timing coincides with a key competitive cycle for South African football.

Bafana Bafana will be participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Banyana Banyana are preparing to compete in upcoming continental tournaments, including the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

With growing commercial support and improved performances on the field, partnerships like this are expected to play a critical role in strengthening the financial foundation of South African football.

In late 2025, SAFA also signed a kit sponsorship agreement with German sportswear company Adidas.
