Morocco’s FA and the National Airports Authority (ONDA) Partner to Streamline National Team Travel
Morocco's Royal Football Federation (FRMF) and the National Airports Authority (ONDA) have signed a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening travel operations for national teams and positioning the country for a new phase of international football activity.
According to multiple reports, the agreement was signed at Rabat-Salé Airport by FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa and ONDA Director General Adel El Fakir. This establishes ONDA as an institutional partner responsible for managing the mobility of Moroccan national teams and sports delegations.
Under the partnership, ONDA will deliver enhanced logistical and operational support across the country's airports, including dedicated coordination for team travel and streamlined processes for international competitions hosted in Morocco.
The deal extends beyond national teams, with both institutions aligning on improving airport services for incoming delegations, officials, and stakeholders tied to major football events.
Infrastructure Meets Football Strategy
The agreement comes as Morocco accelerates investment in transport infrastructure ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which it will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
ONDA is currently executing a $3.8 billion airport expansion programme under its "Airports 2030" strategy, targeting a near-doubling of national capacity from 36.6 million passengers to 80 million by 2030.
Key projects include:
A $1.28 billion terminal expansion at Mohammed V International Airport, increasing capacity to 35 million passengers
$440 million in upgrades across Marrakech and Agadir airports
Additional expansion plans in Tangier and Fez
Parallel investments are also underway in aviation, with Royal Air Maroc planning to expand its fleet from approximately 50 aircraft to 200 by 2037.
Building a Tournament-Ready Ecosystem
The FRMF-ONDA partnership reflects a broader shift toward integrated event infrastructure, where transport, logistics, and sport are managed as a single ecosystem.
With Morocco expected to host a high volume of international matches, training camps, and delegations in the lead-up to 2030, efficient mobility is emerging as a critical competitive advantage.
Beyond operations, the initiative also supports Morocco's positioning as a continental sports hub, aligning infrastructure development with federation strategy and tournament readiness. As both parties stated in a joint communication, the partnership is designed to strengthen Morocco's global sporting footprint while enhancing the experience for teams and stakeholders traveling through the country.
