Mwamba Rugby Football Club have announced a three-year sponsorship agreement with Nairobi furniture retailer Dignity Furniture valued at KES 9 million. The deal shows growing corporate appetite for club-level rugby investment in Kenya.

Under the terms of the agreement, Dignity Furniture will inject KES 3 million (approximately $23,000) annually into the club over the next three seasons, with an option to extend the partnership beyond its initial term. The deal was formally unveiled at Dignity Furniture's Parklands headquarters in Nairobi.

The timing is strategically significant. Mwamba RFC recently secured promotion back to the Kenya Cup, the country's premier club rugby competition, making the partnership a commercial foundation for their top-flight return.

Club Chairman Edwin Waita framed the deal as more than just financial support. "This sponsorship comes at a crucial time for the club as we return to the Kenya Cup," he said. "It reflects the belief Dignity Furniture has in our vision, our players, and our long-term ambitions."

Dignity Furniture’s investment, represents a deliberate move into sports marketing. Nicky Patel, the company's marketing manager, described the rationale in terms that will resonate with brand strategists across the continent. "Our entry into sports is driven by a desire to build a strong brand presence while actively supporting the growth and development of the game," Patel said, adding that Mwamba's legacy and potential made them the right vehicle for that ambition.

Across Africa, mid-market consumer brands are increasingly turning to club-level sponsorship as a cost-effective route to community engagement and regional brand visibility - particularly as top-tier sponsorship inventory in football becomes increasingly expensive and competitive.

The partnership also points to a maturing off-field structure. Securing a multi-year, KES 9 million commitment before a ball has been kicked in the Kenya Cup suggests the club is building the kind of commercial credibility that sponsors demand before executing a partnership agreement - and that sustained competitiveness at the top level requires.
