Nigeria’s National Sports Commission (NSC) is Committing $17M to reviving Abuja Stadium

Nigeria is committing significant capital to reviving its national sports infrastructure. The Moshood Abiola National Stadium is set to receive ₦24.6bn ($17.3m) as part of the National Sports Commission's (NSC) ₦203.6bn ($143.4m) allocation in Nigeria's 2026 budget, marking one of the largest single-stadium investments in the country in recent years.

Nigeria's overall sports budget has increased by 300% year-on-year, reflecting a renewed push toward infrastructure renewal, athlete performance, and international competitiveness.

The stadium was originally built for the 2003 African Games.
