Ghana Sports Fund has appointed a New Fund Manager
The Ghana Sports Fund has appointed Dr. David Kofi Wuaku as its first Fund Manager, marking a key milestone in the professionalisation of sports financing in Ghana.Dr. Wuaku brings over 30 years of experience in banking and financial management.
In his role, he will:
- Lead the implementation of the Governing Board’s decisions.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Fund.
- Ensure accountability in the mobilisation and utilisation of resources.
This appointment signals a stronger, more structured approach to sports funding and sports development in Ghana. The Ghana Sports Fund, was established in December 2025 and inaugurated in January 2026, as an initiative to provide sustainable, transparent, and structured funding for sports development in the country.
The goal of the fund is to support athlete welfare, infrastructure, grassroots talent, and capacity building. In early January 2026, GCB Bank PLC was appointed as the official collecting bank of the fund.
