Nairobi City Thunder have signed Send App, the cross-border payments platform by Flutterwave, as their front-of-shirt sponsor on a two-year deal beginning with the 2026 campaign.

The partnership comes as Thunder enter the season as two-time unbeaten Kenya National Basketball League (KNBL) champions and prepare to represent Kenya in the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL) for the second time.

According to multiple reports, the Send App branding will feature across matchday activations, digital platforms, and fan engagement initiatives -aligning fintech scale with elite African basketball ambition.

The deal reflects a growing trend of African fintech firms leveraging sport to deepen brand visibility, diaspora engagement, and cross-border connectivity, particularly as clubs seek to build pan-African brands with global and local reach.

Late last year, the NBA and BAL commissioner Adam Silver announced plans to transform the Basketball Africa League (BAL) into a permanent 12-team franchise-based league with some investors already expressing interest in teams.
